When I link to NBC as an example I then link to a specific story. When finished I click on the return arrow and it sends me back to the day before.

Why does Firefox return me to the previous days headlines of new sites instead of the headlines for today?

I get around this by; When I find a link I want to check out, I open it in a new tab/window. Then when I am done, I close it and am back where I started.

Hi leiboldsr82, two thoughts:

(1) I think NBC's site manipulates the tab history. Other users have reported problems with extra unwanted entries on the Back button as they scroll down pages, which makes it difficult to go back a whole page. To see the tab history and potential click back more than one page, right-click the Back button to drop the tab history list.

(2) When you click a link, Firefox stores the vertical position on the page (for example 2000 pixels down). When you go back, Firefox tries to stay at that position, but sometimes due to different sized ads, or delayed image loads, that turns out to be the wrong place on the page. So if you are finding Firefox goes back to the correct page but the incorrect section, that could be the issue and I might have a suggestion for something to test out.
