Gmail action labels are invisible in Firefox 29.0.1
I've got a Dell PC running XP, and have been using Firefox and Gmail for years with no problem, Recently, I've had a variety of problems with Gmail since Firefox upgraded from 27.0. First, my inbox was not loading, so I reset Firefox which brought me up to 28.0, and that seemed to work. But now, in 29.0 and 29.0.1, when viewing an email, the "Back to Inbox," "Archive," "Report Spam" and "Delete" button labels (and other buttons in the same row) are blank. If I mouse-over them, the descriptions appear in a box below the buttons. This sounds like a problem with an earlier version, where labels were not showing in dark backgrounds. I've tried the Classic Theme Restorer add-in, to no avail. Any ideas?

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.
Clear the Cache
Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
and
Remove Cookies
Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy.
Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings.
There is a button on the right side called Show Cookies.
If there is still a problem,
Start Firefox in Safe Mode
While you are in safe mode;
Firefox Options > Advanced > General.
Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.
I'm not sure which one did it, but one of them did. I cleared cache and deleted all google.com/mail.google.com cookies. Then I restarted Gmail, and voila! Problem solved. I have saved your response as a first-response tech-tip if I have future problems.
