nothing happens when i click the tab and links wont work?

usually my tab icon works but the past couple of days i click on it and nothing happens. its becoming frustrating that i have to open alot of firefox windows. also when i click on links it opens a new window not a tab and the window is blank. Please help.

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.

thanks, that has answered my question but ive unistalled firefox and reinstalled firefox 4  :) thanks anyway
