Completely uninstall Thunderbird clean

I went to the control panel and "Uninstalled" Tbird and Thunderbird Maintenance to be able to re-install clean. After do that, I downloaded tbird again, and all of my previous emails came right back. I am having issues with tbird deleting emails, not keeping starred emails and others. I want to start completely fresh.
