New mail sound problem

I have recently installed the latest version of Thunderbird on my Macbook Air, and copied my profile over from my iMac. All seems to work, except the new mail sound customisation. The sound played is the same regardless of what sound I select. (I actually want the submarine sound).

Macbook is running MacOS 10.13, iMac is on 10.12

Soluzione scelta

Found the solution: Notifications were switched on for Thunderbird in the Mac's own notification centre. When I switched those off, the new mail sound was correct.
