Good Morning! I've just come back to FF after using another browser for quite a few years. Things have changed alot here, but I'm loving it all so far! With that being said, have been trying to get a few extensions set up. Main one being Open Link with New Tab. (WHY doesn't FF do that automatically? lol.) Anyway, obviously I'm doing something wrong because it just stays grayed out. I've uninstalled/reinstalled quite a few times. I know it's something so basically simple and I'm overlooking it. HELP! Thanks! Lynn

I just installed the extension "Open Link with New Tab" that you mentioned. It does appeared grayed out, but it works as expected when I tried clicking on links. Is it not working for you?

Extensions can appear grayed out if it doesn't have another panel that provides extra functionality if you click on the extension (For example, a password manager would have this extra panel to display passwords and other information). But for this "Open Link with New Tab" extension, it doesn't have this panel since it has its settings somewhere else. (Screenshots)
