I've noticed that if I attach a file to an outgoing message then use ctrl+enter to send the message, Thunderbird also opens the attachment. How can I prevent it from doing the latter?

My guess is that the other program is also running. This may be an issue where the last one started preempts the other. Or, don't run the other program.

What "other program" are you referring to?

I was referring to whatever to program is that creates that attachment. If it's still running, it's shortcuts are still active. It may help to provide more information, such as what program was started when thunderbird opened the attachment?

No program is started when Thunderbird opens the attachment. TB opens the attachment in a new tab of itself. I've seen this happen with PDFs, at least. I haven't sent other file types recently.
