example. Google 'bc spca' , choose www.spca.bc.ca and go there. Firefox gives me this..

File Not Found Sorry, the requested page was not found. Please try again.

Original URI: /assets/tab_advocate_mo.jpg

but if I hit the back arrow it shows me the page I wanted for a split second then goes back to the file not found again. This does not happen with Chrome or Internet Explorer. They go to the proper page.

I am running windows 8.1 and have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. NO GO. please help.

Usually if an image in a page cannot be retrieved, Firefox does not redirect the entire page to an error message; the area of the image is just left blank. So this is not normal.

On the error page, what do you see in the address bar, if anything?

To test whether one of your extensions might be the culprit, could you test some problem pages in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

http://www.spca.bc.ca/branches/maple-ridge/assets/images/blank.gif

That was in the address bar.

Starting with add-ons disabled fixed the problem so I will add them back one at a time to see which one it is.

Thanks..

Problem solved..
