I setup a background for Thunderbird emails using a jpeg image. When I view the sent email on my PC, it displays the way I set it up. However, when I view the sent email on my phone, the image sits there as an attachment. I presume the recipients are also getting the image as an attachment, because when they reply and my message is included below, then the background doesn't appear.

How do I ensure that the image displays as a background when the recipient receives the email?

I have a yahoo.com.hk mail account. I've tried adding this email address. It would try to authenticate via AOL sign in page, typed in email address and password, it would then asks for verification code, via this prompt:

Enter verification code sent to your email: xxxx@yahoo.com.hk

I never receive such code on my yahoo.com.hk email and hence cannot sign in.

Could anyone help?

1. Each time I try to add a new category to Calendar - I get the buffering circle on the Preferences screen and it takes a long time to move to the bottom of the list. When there is finally a completed screen write click the New button and it appears to totally freeze and the above message and after 30 plus minutes I try to close Thunderbird and a Report to Microsoft window opens. 2. I have a new desktop wanted to transfer old computer emails across as well as keep the current ones but this issue is occupying my time and frustrating setting up the new computer.

However, I cannot find/get my local folders (the TB equivalent of a PST file) to move to my new system so I can still have access to all those save emails and records. You need to post a definitive solution to this FAQ - trawling through endless opinions to change this or change that is not useful. Is it a gmail issue? Is it NOT a gmail issue? bold textI have really become disillusioned with this email program, which I have used for many years on my Windows computers.

I have 5 email addresses; 3 of those were rendered inaccessible with the June update to Thunderbird; only the first and last addresses work now (or did, until today's update: 91.3.2, see below). Four email identities are handled by Zoho.com, the 5th is a gmail account. If I shift the order of the email accounts in Thunderbird, again only the first and last accounts are able to log into email, the others are rejected as having incorrect passwords.

The correct passwords are stored in Thunderbird, they are again rejected when re-entering them as requested by Thunderbird.

I have been screwing around with this issue for 5 months and have not been able to resolve it. I also have 2 laptops with Thunderbird installed. Regrettably all 3 computers were set for automatic updates to Thunderbird, and all have had the same issue since June, despite no changes/alterations on my part.

Today I updated to the latest release (91.3.2) on my desktop computer. I don't recognize the initial user screen now. Thunderbird only displays one of my email accounts, dunno what happened to the other 4 which are still in Account Settings. Also, my access to local folders is gone with this new release (or at least not obvious... all accounts and local folders used to appear on the left column).

I have no idea of how to revert to earlier Thunderbird releases, and my research has not revealed that secret.

Thunderbird has gone downhill in a hurry these past 5 months, and I haven't found a way to fix it. I would switch to another email product except that my Thunderbird local folders of saved emails would be gone forever (actually, this latest update may have rendered them inaccessible, so that issue may be moot).

Aaarrgghh, why are these people screwing up a perfectly good product??? At the very least, they could provide a way to save the prior version of the users' Thunderbird (and the users settings/preferences) before destroying it, maybe even make that save/restore a mandatory part of the update.

Just for grins I clicked on "Events and Tasks/Export" a moment ago... nothing happened.

Permanently delete messages by a rule?

My situation is that I'm receiving around 50-100 spam a day to different accounts. And there's the false classification problem on top of it. So I'd like to set up rules … (saznaj više)

My situation is that I'm receiving around 50-100 spam a day to different accounts. And there's the false classification problem on top of it.

So I'd like to set up rules that weeds out the spam folder - to some extent. Eg anything sent form a .ru address (plenty of those) can be deleted immediately. And I do NOT want to keep these in the trash either.

I know it's not directly possible (hello missing feature) but would the retention rules just maybe delete the if these were sorted into another (say 'russianJunk') folder? Or is the retention policy just another 'move' type operation (i.e. move to trash, not delete)?

I updated to Thunderbird 91.x.x several weeks ago, and now, every time Thunderbird starts, I get an error message "Either there is no mail client or the current client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client." See attached file. If I press OK or the X to close the window, I have to do this 18 times and then Thunderbird starts up normally. I have not mentioned this before thinking that it would be solved in more recent release but that has not happened. I am running windows 7 and do have Thunderbird set as the default for the programs it can open.

About the same time, Thunderbird published a note that it was adding a PDF function. This works, and opens the PDF but after 5 seconds Thunderbird crashes every time I open a PDF... and I have to go through the process described in the first paragraph to get Thunderbird restarted again.

Hello, A few months ago I began working for a new company. I use the company's email platform quite often as I am in charge of warranty information on our products. Anyhow, the email system has been pretty screwed up since I began using it. As of late, we have been having issues with the outgoing & incoming mail servers. We use Go Daddy as the father provider for the multiple emails. For instance, we have a main email, service, admin, and info emails all with the same @example.biz. We just received an email from Go Daddy stating that as of 12/31/21 Microsoft 365 will no longer support our emails. Now to the main issue, we use Thunderbird to check/send/receive emails. To my understanding, the outgoing/incoming servers and ports have to be configured correctly in order for the receiving and sending of emails to work correctly, but I have no idea how to find out what the correct configurations are. (The owner of the company does not know either, hence why I have become our "IT" person.) All of our sub part email address do the same thing but not at the same time. At various times on different days we will either not be able to send emails or will not be able to receive emails but on another computer (which also randomly has the same problems) we can send/receive emails at that same point in time. I am very confused and do not know where to begin. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Moving emails with "mark as deleted"

I set the option "mark as deleted" under "server settings" for all my accounts. For one of my accounts, if I move an email with TB60 (Linux, Cyrus IMAP) it is marked as … (saznaj više)

I set the option "mark as deleted" under "server settings" for all my accounts.

For one of my accounts, if I move an email with TB60 (Linux, Cyrus IMAP) it is marked as deleted, but does not disappear from the original folder (I have just checked this). Under TB91 the email disappears from the folder as if it has been auto-compacted. I think TB68 behaves as TB60, but I cannot remember/test TB71. Is there a setting I can use to recover the old behaviour?

popstate files keep piling up

Each time the "xx" is a different number, i.e 13, 14, 15, etc. I read the suggestion fix to go to Help, Troubleshoot Information, click Open Folder button. I did so. There are two Open Folder buttons (Update Folder & Profile Folder). I picked Profile Folder. Then I closed TB as instructed. Then I clicked Mail folder, and it says to click the Pop mail account which is displaying those popstate folders. At this point I see two : one says "inbound.att.net" and one says :inbound.att-1.net". If I click the "inbound.att.net" there is only one popstate folder. If I click the "inbound.att-1.net" account there are many popstate folders. I think this may be the cause of the multiple popstate folders showing up in TB. I am thinking I could possibly delete the account with the "-1" and keep the account with the single popstate folder. BUT, will this somehow mess up my incoming and outgoing mail? I don't want to mess up. Can someone help me?

Hi, I cannot update Thunderbird to version 91.3.2. Current version is 91.3.1 and worked like a charm until today.. every time I open the application it seems to install the update (I see the progress bara, but it doesn't, because the next time I open Thunderbird, does it again.. Thunderbird is installed outside the pacakage manager (using the tar archive) and worked until today, also updates ever worked. Any idea ?
