Kill switch still enabled after turning off VPN

If I disconnect my VPN via the toggle in the app "Turn VPN Off".... my internet stops working, if I restart and try to connect to the internet, it still doesn't work. The only way for my internet to work now, is if I have the VPN on. I understand the point of the internet kill switch while my VPN is active, but if I don't run the software or launch it, I should still have access to my WIFI, and currently I do not. This seems to be a major issue.

I'm running OSX 11.5.2 Big Sur
