When I open my email to receive or send e-mails it asks for the password; if I tick the "Use Password Manager" it won't recognise the password

If I try use "Password Manager" to remember passwords then it won't recognise the passwords so I am having to input my passwords to send and receive email every time I open the Thunderbird again. I saw a solution on here to delete the "key" file (suggestion at this link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1103439) but this doesn't work for me. Any other suggestions please?
