No matter what settings are used Thunderbird says the unable to login at server. I have tried multiple variations to the configuration with the same results. I have an existing gmai laccount that works. I can access my email.com thrrough the browser fine.

I have filters set up to file emails to a second IMAP server email account. The filters are set up to copy then delete the email as the source is Gmail. When I get two emails in a row that match the same filter, the first email copies and then deletes as the filter specifies. The second email does not copy but does delete. The filter logs show that both copy and then delete.

A few months ago I posted a question "I'm no longer offered the option to use FILELINK". There was a solution offered by user Yu5tiqX9og. That post has apparently been archived, so I'm unable to see whether Yu5tiqX9og's solution/reply was ever posted. I managed to keep a copy of his solution, which he must have sent to me privately.

  I italic text do remember that it did fix the problem I was having.

I had enail from The New York Times <nytdirect@nytimes.com> in my addess/inbpx. After some thunderbird update it is reguar ly appears in address/Junk folder and I ca not permanently return it to inbox. The New York Times <nytdirect@nytimes.com>i did enter it in personal address book because it promised not to send in Junk items mensioned in apersonal address book - effect, next day again in Junk. I right click on address in message text when in Junk folder and asked to deliver the messages in inbox before analizing for junk - again null effect.On clicking "Not Junk a particular message it sometimes opens in inbox but onl for this time, and next messages with The New York Times <nytdirect@nytimes.com> again surface in Junk folder. My subscription tp NT is active andthey regularly are sending me newsletters and alerts. I can not find what Thunderbird think mark the junk message. I am having a problem with receiving emails that are someone replying to an email I sent. I don't hear back from them and when I give them a call to see why they haven't responded they say, yes they have. So I go and type their name in the search bar at the very top and it shows me their responses and says that the email is in my inbox but it isn't! How do I figure out where these emails actually are and how can I get it to stop doing this?

I just upgraded my computer with a new motherboard, CPU memory, and Windows 11. In the process of reloading all of my programs, I found I was unable to create my comcast.net account in Thunderbird. After trying several times in several days, I wondered if this was a Thunderbird problem. So, I tried it with Outlook. Same problem - it wouldn't connect to the server. Then yesterday I noticed I wasn't getting email on my phone. After doing some research, I found that there's a large number of people that can no longer access Comcast.net email, especially if you're trying to set up your account again.

Now here's where I am running into a dilemma. I saved my old Thunderbird profile before I upgraded. Since it was way over 2GB, I copied it to my backup drive. Now, though, since I have to switch to a different email provider, what will happen if I just replace this new profile with my old, saved one. Will it still work? I have a ton of email that I need to save and be able to access through Thunderbird again. If not, what files in my old profile will I have to move over so that I still have access to my address list, calendar, and email?

Can you help me out? I still plan on keeping Thunderbird as my email client.

Using netadress on Thunderbird. No matter who I address an outgoing mail to, the sent file shows it was sent to another person's email. That name is the same every time. When I sent a test email to that other person's email and any other emails, the outgoing server times out. This does not happen when I send an email to the same address on Apple mail.

Thunderbird checks an email you are composing for the word "attached" and if it finds it, warns you that you may have forgotten to attach a file.

Can I add the word "stegys" as a synonym for "attached" ? This is the Cornish word for attached. Alternatively, if I add the Thunderbird Cornish dictionary, would Thunderbird warn me when it finds "stegys" in the text. I already have an excellent Cornish dictionary extension for Libre Office, and as such it seems overkill to add a second dictionary as I can spell check text in Writer and then paste it into Thunderbird. So adding a synonym would be my preferred option.

I have 3 Thunderbird e-mail addresses. The primary one is franks@rochester.rr.com, and the secondary ones are dda1@rochester.rr.com and muse@rochester.rr.com. The franks@... and muse@... ones are fine. However, I cannot delete anything (messages or folders) in the dda1@... address. The only way I can delete a message in dda!@... is to right click, choose Move to, and move it to franks@rochester.rr.com/Trash, where I can delete it. I cannot do this with folders. Related (I suspect) is that I have 2 Drafts folders within Trash, and I cannot delete them by any means, including Empty Trash. I can right click, Move to the franks@... Trash folder and delete it there, but it still remains in the dda1@... Trash folder. What is wrong with dda1@rochester.rr.com? p.s.: I've contacted my e-mail provider, and we have determined that everything works well there. The problem is with Thunderbird.

I have what appears to be a common issue, but the common solutions I found don't seem to help.

I migrated to a new Mac[1], and my Thunderbird[2] on Mac times out while sending messages through the SMTP outlook server. So I am unable to send emails from account. By migrating, I mean I copied over my entire ~/Library/Thunderbird and used that. It actually did work for a few days. But then it started failing.

There are some common suggestions on the internet for how to fix this, and I have tried them all:

  • make sure correct settings are used. I am using Outgoing SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com, port: 587, security: STARTTLS, authentication: OAuth2.
  • make sure Firewall is disabled
  • restart Thunderbird
  • restart Mac
  • delete Thunderbird folder in Library, and just start over with a new profile.
  • change Thunderbird time out setting

The error I get, after about 15 seconds is: "Send Message Error. Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to the Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com timed out. Try again."

I have no problem receiving email, but am unable to send.

I tried gomtp to look at what was happening, but I wasn't sure how to configure the ssl, tls, auth settings and how to specify where to find the password.

I've been running T-Bird v.38.8.0 on a Windows 7 computer for years. I have the server settings for my account to "Empty Trash on Exit", and it's been doing that flawlessly for years. Recently (past few days), it has failed to empty the Trash folder on shutdown. The server settings have not changed (box is still checked to empty the trash on exit). If anyone has experienced this issue, can you help me fix the problem? I would very much appeciate your help. Thank you.

A number of email providers (godaddy most recently) have begun quarantining emails that contain HTML attachments.

This is rendering the Thunderbird Filelink (we're using dropbox) increasingly unusable without the option to DISABLE the .html attachments and just have the file links contained in the body of the email.

Would TRULY appreciate any help with disabling the Filelink .html attachments or having that switch added in the preferences.

I've been trying to get to the bottom of an error message that keeps coming up on my client's computer. They first noticed the error (ss) about a couple of weeks ago and anything from then won't download (incoming), but I believe they are able to send emails. I can see that the messages are 'waiting' on the server at least and they can temporarily use Webmail.

I looked through the forums and any other info I could find and have checked or tried the following:

  • If their Antivirus or Firewall are blocking access
  • There is enough space on their system
  • File permissions for the 'Thunderbird' folder
  • Access details
  • Downgrading to an earlier version of Thunderbird

Unfortunately the error is still coming up each time they try to get their messages.

They have been using Thunderbird for almost a year now with one minor issue in that time. And I'm a bit puzzled as to what to try next. Has something similar happened to anyone else? Any suggestions for what I can do or check next?

The email account is through their domain and hosting and they are using Windows 8 and Thunderbird version 102.15.1 (from version 115.18.0 - 32-bit).
