Tabs not drawn in title bar when new tab is opened

mr_gou

I've started getting a strange problem in Firefox 30.0: when I hit ctrl-T to open a new tab, the tab bars goes below the title bar and stays there. I closed and reopened it, and found the same thing. Checking the config settings, I see this: http://i.imgur.com/grAtg5U.png

So, I set them both off, and it's back to normal: http://i.imgur.com/c1CNruW.png

But if I hit ctrl-T again, I'm back to the same issue: http://i.imgur.com/bB7fe4E.png

Unless, I restart the browser, I can't even change the drawInTitlebar setting, but even if I do that, problem will be back as soon as I open a new tab again.

Any idea?

Thanks!

The browser.tabs.defaultDrawInTitlebar pref doesn't exist by default in Firefox (no hits in the source code, so you must have an extension that adds this pref.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

I found the culprit: http://realityripple.com/Software/Mozilla_Extensions/SettingSanity/

An update was released yesterday, and that probably caused the issue. I'll inform the developer.

Edit: Our posts crossed. Glad you found the problem extension.

I'm not 100% sure what behavior you want to achieve. In your first and third screen shots, you have the page title displayed (about:config), which is one of the options in the Customize panel ("Title bar"). Maybe you need to turn off Title Bar first to resolve the conflict?

Tabs should appear in the title bar when drawInTitlebar is set to True (sorry, I updated my post from 5 minutes ago, as I found the extension I skipped when disabling them). Unfortunately, that setting was modified as soon as I opened a new tab.

Extension was updated to correct the issue.
