Whenever I open a new website, firefox clears the url and it goes to a search, I'm afraid this might be a security bug, help?

It doesn't matter what website it is, this just started yesterday, I'll click a link or something along those lines. For example, Google. I go onto google.com, and begin typing, instead of appearing in the search bar, it appears in the URL bar. It also does this on any website I need to sign onto, another example being my college's website, in which I'm really hoping this isn't a security bug because that would mean very bad news!!!

It seems that reinstalling firefox was the key to fixing it. But I had to lose all my bookmarks in the process. =(
