I understand that Mozilla purports to be a company founded upon ideals of tolerance and freedom of expression. I understand that those values existed when it was founded by Eich or have developed over the years he's been a key figure in it. He held a view and chose to express it. He expressed it by doing what Americans all over the country do, by donating to a political cause, one that our own President, the former Sec. of State, and the majority of Californians held (clearly, his wasn't a radical or extremist belief). For exercising his freedom of expression, the same freedom Mozilla purports to hold as a core value, he was unceremoniously fired. That, ladies and gentlemen, is hypocrisy at best and Orwellian at worst.

I need a browser that's as good as Firefox, as committed to open source development as Firefox, and does everything Firefox does, but doesn't come from a company that's run by the thought police. I don't wish to support the NSA with Chrome or support my friendly neighborhood Russian botnet with IE. Please help.

Also, an email contact for the people who actually need to hear this complaint would be helpful, rather than forcing me to waste moderator time on an otherwise helpful support forum.

Hi,

Thanks for letting us know how you feel about this issue.

Mozilla didn't fire Brendan. Brendan made his own decision to step down as CEO
Brendan Eich resigned himself and said:

“I have decided to resign as CEO effective April 3rd, and leave Mozilla. Our mission is bigger than any one of us, and under the present circumstances, I cannot be an effective leader. I will be taking time before I decide what to do next.”

You can read more here:

I, as a volunteer, do know how you feel. As an insider, I can say that it's not as bad as the media makes it seem. Mozilla is a huge group of really awesome people who strive to make the Web a better place.

You can use Opera, Waterfox, or Pale Moon (which is based upon Mozilla code) as an alternative to Firefox. Pale Moon doesn't have the new upcoming Australis look and doesn't plan to release it for further releases of Pale Moon.

Also, this thread is off-topic and shouldn't be discussed here as this is a place meant for technical support.

If you would like to discuss this further, please post in the governace forum.

I'll be closing this thread as this is off-topic. This is not to silence you but to give you the information that I currently have and to direct you to the appropriate place for this type of discussion.

Thank you for your understanding
-M
