New tab reset not working
I have got a search engine hijacking my New Tab and have tried going into the About:config but everytime i try and modify the browser.newtab.url it will not change. Can anyone help me fix this i suspect it is malware.

There are a couple of ways to interpret your description:
- you right-click > Reset but instead of changing to about:newtab (the default setting) it remains set to something else
- the preference is set to about:newtab but Firefox is showing some other page
Assuming it's the second case, you may have an unwanted extension that is overriding your new tab page. Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that help get you back to the normal new tab page?
P.S. Chrome also has an extensions page, someone on that "3 bar" menu.

It is also effecting our Crome browser as well and am sure it is malware any advice it is Conduit search that is doing this
If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
Did you check the "Control Panel > Programs" for recently installed software?

Forgot to mention: Conduit search is built into many "Community Toolbar" extensions. I'd definitely disable those.
