I have used FF for many years, but I am very disappointed with the recent performance - or lack of performance!

I am using CHROME in order to even access Mozilla site and for numerous months FIREFOX tells me STATCOUNTER doesn't exist, but my ISP had me load CHROME and FINALLY it loaded!

I have run multiple malware software: clean. Conducted a speed test: right at the top.

Firefox V 25.0.1 Sites load soooooo slowly, FIREFOX will not load www.statcounter.com from my computer! pages hang before finally populating system frequently crashes no extensions

I have wasted so much time running diagnostics with no progress and getting no work done!

My system is Win7, 64 bit, 12 g ram, 1 T hdd with hardly anything on it with i7-3610 QM.

Only a few months ago, the computer store cleaned off my system and reloaded everything - so what else could it be?

I don't want to delete FIREFOX, but I am getting ready to say goodbye and use Chrome

Thanks if you can help clear it!

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Firefox can behave poorly with some graphics cards due to driver incompatibilities, and with the protected mode of the Flash Player plugin, which is used all over the web. To work around those potential issues:

(1) Disable Firefox's use of hardware graphics acceleration

Un-check the box here:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"

That takes effect after you exit and restart Firefox.

(2) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista and higher)

See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?

If nothing above helps, could you post some troubleshooting information.

Please do the following:
  • Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information from the submenu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select Troubleshooting Information from the menu.

Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.

  • At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
  • Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

If you need further information about the Troubleshooting information page, please read the article Use the Troubleshooting Information page to help fix Firefox issues.

Hi GodivaRides, regarding StatCounter, I'm not sure why one browser can find it and not another if they are both using the same connection settings.

Could you check in the Options dialog here:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > Settings button

I believe the default is "Use system proxy settings" and you also could try "No proxy". Not sure that will change anything.

Occasionally users have problem with the new expanded internet addressing scheme, IPv6. You can disable Firefox's support for IPv6 and see whether that makes any difference. Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste ipv and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the network.dns.disableIPv6 preference to switch it from true to false (it should turn bold).

If you open a new tab and try to access StatCounter, any difference? You might need to use Ctrl+Shift+r to bypass the previous cached result.
