new search bar at bottom of page
I have recently noticed a new search bar type thing at the bottom of the page when i use firefox. there is no name or brand to it, it doesnt show up in add on etc and i cant get rid of it! It has a X the Find: and a space to type in a search followed by next, previous...... you can close it using the X but comes back when changing the page. It is so annouying, everytime i go to fill in text box on a new page it automatically goes to there... grrr! Help, is this a firefox add on or someone elses?

hello leovon1, this may be the find-bar that is included in firefox - go to firefox > options > advanced > general and disable search for text when i start typing, then the bar shouldn't show up automatically anymore but only when you press ctrl+f.
How to search the contents of the current page for text or links
Hi, thanks for that. I have just checked and that bit isn't enabled so guess it must be something else?!

can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

just started up in safe mode and thought it had gone as went to ebay and facebook and not there, then started typing here and bang, there it is again! grrrr
your attached photo shows the integrated find bar - it should only open when you press ctrl+f - can you test if the issue is also happening when you use a different keyboard? maybe it's a hardware issue and keys are misfiring...
In case that find bar setting is stuck on even though it's not checked in the dialog, try the double switch: check the box, OK that, then go back in and uncheck it and OK that.
Also, in case it's faster for you, if the find bar has the focus, pressing the Esc key will close it.
Occasionally Firefox will behave as though the Ctrl key is held down (for example, any link you click will open in a new tab). Tapping the key a few times might clear that, sometimes exiting and restarting Firefox will help, other times you have to restart Windows to resolve it.
