video does not play. I have tried numerous solutions from this website. How do I start all over? What programs do I need to uninstall/install?

Whether its YouTube or Hulu, the screen just stay black. I have tried most of the solutions on the Firefox help website. I want to erase Firefox and all of its supporting programs, and start fresh. Can you give me a list? RealTime, Flash, etc. Thanks a lot.

Please Update to the latest Firefox 20.0.x version.

  • Help > About Firefox

The Firefox Firefox 17.0 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates

You can also check for extensions or other plugin that are interfering.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Nope. I uninstalled the program & still get the black screen.

Still not working. I now have the latest Firefox & the latest Flash. Still a black screen. RealPlayer has been removed, also.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
