Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:

1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.
3. Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the Uninstall Firefox article.

IMPORTANT: On Windows, the uninstaller has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you do not check this option; otherwise all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, user customizations and other Firefox user profile data will be removed from your computer.

After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the "Mozilla Firefox" program folder, located by default in one of these locations:

• (On 32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
• (On 64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

1. Go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Computer".
2. In the Explorer window that opens, double click Local Disk (C:) to open the C:\ drive.
3. Find the "Program Files (x86)" folder or "Program Files" folder.
   • On 32-bit Windows, double-click the Program Files folder to open it.
   • On 64-bit Windows, you will see a "Program Files (x86)" folder AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the Program Files (x86) folder.
4. Look for a Mozilla Firefox folder. If you find one, right-click it and select Delete and confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin.

Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:

1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

Seems to have corrected the cut and paste problem. Now to see if it sticks. If NOT I'll let you know. But for the first few minutes after the re-install, it works.

Not a happy option if the problem resurfaces. Thanks for so far tho.

TRY THIS FIRST !!!!

Using FF 20 and had the same problem. The cut and paste as well as the open in other tab was missing in the right click drop down menu.

This worked for me. Close all but one tab, then restart the browser in safe mode via:

Help>Restart with Add-ons disabled...

Check to see if copy and open in new tab are now working. If yes:

File>Quit

Then reopen the browser from the tool bar icon same as normal and everthing should be working again. If no, then you may want to try some of the more drastic measures mentioned here.

Try this first before you go to a lot of trouble. From another post, the reset and reinstall were also mentioned but if you have plug-ins, or FTP sites set up, that will cause you to loose everthihng. The reinstall and reset did not work for people, probably because what really needed to happen was the simple method above. There were also a lot of other suggestions that did not seem to work for anyone.

Cut or Copy and Paste CONTENT is STILL lost when I inadvertantly close Firefox 21 to PASTE in another app, webpage or program. ALL actions cut or copied while Firefox is ACTIVE are LOST and NOT saved in ANY clipboard if Firefox is CLOSED before the pasting action is completed. So ANY LINK I care to copy and paste into another app such as MS Word or Notepad or Wordpad or Outlook or Outlook Express or Internet Explorer 8 are LOST if Firefox is CLOSED before the pasting is complete.

My question for the Mozilla Team is: WHY and WHY doesn't Firefox have the ability to save COPY into Windows Clipboard for use as necessary until I CHOOSE to eliminate it from clipboard OR I clear the clipboard as I can with IE8?

For about 2 weeks I had this problem and today I fixed it!

Didn't fancy doing a Reset of Firefox as I'd only just done one a few months ago, manually.

Basically, I uninstalled ZoneAlarm. I've been a ZoneAlarm fan for years but the software just got worse and worse and for about a year this weird thing pops up while I'm in Firefox by pressing CTRL Enter or something, it's like ZoneAlarm has put some kind of layer between me and the browser.

Anyway, uninstalled it, it rebooted and did a scandisk which did find and fix a few errors too, so could also be that.

But I'm happy without ZA now as I've found a better one called Online Armour... non of that sneaky trying to install toolbars in your browser rubbish of ZA.
