whenever i use mozilla firefox. i am seeing black horizontal lines which fills the whole screen covering all the view of whatever site im on (e.g. facebook)

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
