Recently downloaded V17. PREVIOUSLY, usernames and passwords automatically populated on many sites. At the moment, it appears that NONE of my information populates any more. Has this been widely reported, or am I in a miniscule minority that suddenly finds myself unable to log in to any of my sites?

In any case, can you tell me HOW TO GET THIS WORKING AGAIN?

hello, are you using the norton toolbar to manage your username/passwords - because at the moment it contains a bug that prevents the autofilling of your pw credentials... norton is aware of the problem & will hopefully release a fixed version soon.

Did you verify that the Password Manager is still enabled?

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Remember passwords for sites"

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Nothing from Norton on this box. So, I don't think I have anything odd happening..... Everything worked FINE right up to when I let Firefox update itself to V17...

I just checked and it's enabled in the tools... I'll rummage through your other suggestions and see if something causes any change.

Do you still see the names and passwords in the Password Manager?

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

You can also check the signon.autofillForms pref(s) on the about:config page.

norton has now released a version that fixes the issue (see the link i've posted in the first reply) - please run the symantec liveupdate in order to install it on your system.
