That is a problem with a plugin.
Can you try to start Firefox with the about:blank url appended to the command line?
You can make a copy of the Firefox desktop shortcut and add -url about:blank
- "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -url about:blank
(use the quotes and adjust the path accordingly if you have a 64 bit Windows version)
You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.

You can try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a new copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 14.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
- Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
Lets try this in steps: The problem could be with your Firefox start page, if it is using a plugin that crashes Firefox. Try this first:
Open the Windows Start menu and type the following in the "Search programs and files" box, then press the "enter" key:
firefox.exe -url about:blank
Firefox should open with a blank page.
You can then reset your Startup options so that Firefox opens with the default Home Page. See How to set the home page Link:
See if Firefox starts normally after that.
