On Windows XP the default setup is to show the old style menus, but you can easily switch to using the Firefox button instead. In the View menu select Toolbars, then click the "Menu Bar" entry to deselect it.

I think that is the default state of affairs for Windows XP.

I have not used XP for a while but IIRC you may set it to use the Firefox Button but it does not work correctly (I seem to recall something not displaying) so the default setting is to use the menubar. You may use the firefox button however if you wish.

On later versions of Windows if do not display the Menubar toolbar (and that is the default setting) the Firefox Button appears.

i confirm that(as and xp user), i don't remember the number of an earlier firefox update that the Firefox Button is given default to xp, and it is all hangs....! then the menubar is default again and all is ok.
