Error:"OPen Office unable to find a working e-mail config"

Bringing my old Open Office over to my new Windows 7-64 Notebook, I now can not update or send emails from the Open Office. Error says OO cannot find a working email cofig,, and updating is also impossible - Error " Checking for update failed. Could not establish Internet Connection to update 32.service.OpenOffice.org"

What do I need to do to to get this straightened out, please? Thank you for your help.

Sorry, Firefox has nothing to do with Open Office or with "doing" email.

Hi Edmeister, 

Thanks for your reply, even if it is of no help.  May I ask what type of  spreadsheet/ text document is more compatible with Firefox?  Being a very low tech granny, I was hoping to at last find out how i could establish an internet connection  to get updates for mine. Oh, well...
