password protected X.509 certificates for muthual authentication
I need to have a X.509 certificate for muthual SSL authentication. If I use firefox meanwhile, I'm always getting prompted for certificate passwords (on every https site i visit). The certificate is installed on a Safenet JC USB token. What can I do? I tried to change firefox security settings without success. I found this issue on every version of firefox (for windows XP, Vista and 7). Trhanks in advance!

If possible, you can try to Import the certificate in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Advanced > Encryption > View Certificates > Your Certificates. You can also try to first export the certificate to a folder using any in-built application on the USB token and then Import it into Firefox. Options > Advanced
Ok, but the problem remains the same. I get prompted for certificate password also on https sites that DO NOT require muthual authentication.
Please also try enabling Select one automatically in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Advanced > Encryption.
Already done, but nothing.... I add a few more details.... (the password prompt that continues to appear and the firefox certificate stats. They should be clear even though they're in italian) Thanks a lot.
Please try deselecting Use a master password in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Security. Options > Security
It was already deselected. Any other idea? :)
Please also check if this happens in a new profile. If the new profile is okay you can start using it, and later copy the needed personal data like bookmarks, history, passwords, personal certificates etc. from the old profile. You can then delete or troubleshoot the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in another location (profile folder) separate from its folder/files. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings in Tools (Alt + T) > Options and about:config, and usually would also be empty of Extensions and themes (Appearance) in Tools > Add-ons, and their settings. Also, a new profile would have no previous stored website Cache/Cookies/Data/Preferences: Tools > Clear Recent History.
