I can't install it. It doesn't like my password or my user or administrator. Why?
I put a pssword into my user account and it still wouldn't have it. I rebooted the computer and tried again. Still won't let me in with a password or using administrator or my user.
Chosen solution
I have solved the problem. I right clicked on the Install program and found the option to 'Run as Administrator.' It didn't ask for the password then. How simple it is when you know the answer. Thanks Aireca. I'm kicking myself. Good on you for taking the trouble.

The Install program won't work. I put 'administrator' or 'Dave' and my password and nothing happens or I get a message saying Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password, and that's all I get. There's nothing wrong with my password so what now?
Not only that but Thunderbird installer does exactly the same thing. this is a good beginning, isn't it?
i still dont get where you need password, what password are you talking about, to install you dont need any password, i think you are trying to install firefox into a non windows administrator account or something like that, but is not related to firefox into any way
if not please explain exactly or better post an screenshot
if you are talking about mac, then check if your administrator password works into another software non related to mozilla

I only have 1 account and obviously, its an adminstrator account. I put a password in because both the Install programs wanted to know whether I wanted to run it as administrator or the current user(me,Dave). It defaulted to 'administrator'. I've tried every combination and if I change the name of the account to me, the program disappears and if I run it as administrator, it tells me this message - Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. I don't know how to get a screen shot of an error message, sorry.
press "print" key on the right side of the keyboard, then open paint and paste the image, save the image, then upload to somewhere like here: http://www.postimage.org/ paste the link here
Thanks for the computer lesson. It isn't very helpful to you or me and I really have no idea what this site is supposed to do or what you need this for. I don't have a 'print' key on my laptop to press either. I told you what it says. I can run it as administrator or my current user. Neither of them works. I'll try turning my firewall off or something. I don't know why this is happening. I don't have troubles with any other programs, just your 2.

Well first i'm an user too, second, you are angry, i cant do anything about it, third, you dont need any password to get firefox working so i cant visualize where is that password promp coming from, so thats why i needed that screenshot
I hope your problem get solved.., i'm going to sleep...

I'm not angry, just frustrated. The password thing is coming from Windows 7. I turned firewall off and it it still won't work. The extraction process works and then I run the program and then the message comes up saying I have to have a password and blank is unacceptable. I put one in. I rebooted the thing and it still won't work. I don't know what's stopping it from running. I've uninstalled Google Chrome too. I only have internet Explorer left. I'm sure you're doing your best but I don't even have a 'print' key on my computer and now I'm repeating myself.
You HAVE a print key, "Print Screen" button may be labeled "Prt Sc", "Prnt Scrn", "Print Scrn", or similar., maybe with the "Fn" pressed first..... but anyway...
better redownload firefox from there:
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
but the problem i dont think is firefox related, because you dont need any password
You can also use the On Screen Keyboard, tipe osk into the search box on the windows start menu

i was thinking the password prompt was inside firefox setup, because you sayd you're the admin
