Whenever I download a file, it downloads to the download file, but won't open. We have several years worth of programs that won't run and are quite frustrated. I have tried removing avg, changing the root key (bad idea), going to the browser's about:com and changing "scan downloads" to false... but nothing works. I've had suggestions to use all sorts of registry fixers and cleaners but, obviously, when I download them they won't open.I thought it may be a windows vista problem but now I wonder if its a firefox issue. Thanks.

Hi,

Please also try right-clicking the file and Run as administrator. You can check an example file for corruption/tampering, by downloading a version of Firefox and checking the digital signature in the file properties. The signature should say OK.
