Firefox crashes immediately on trying to open it. I can't open it in safe mode because I can't open it long enough to get to the help button. When I hold down shift and try to open it nothing happens. I have updated my graphics card driver via Windows Update. I ran Malicious Software Removal Tool and it found something but got rid of it. Malwarebytes and Spybot found nothing.

I was using Firefox without a problem when it started crashing and it got more and more frequent until it crashed immediately on startup and I couldn't open it at all. I uninstalled and reinstalled it twice but it still crashes immediately when I try to open it.

to open in safe mode use this from Windows Start or from the Run

firefox.exe -safe-mode

Once in Safe Mode (do not check any of the boxes as that would be unsafe), bring up

you can bring up your addons quickly with Ctrl+Shift+A

I tend to think AVG Safe or McAfee Site Advisor

I put firefox.exe -safe-mode in Start, clicked on it when it came up and I got an error message saying Firefox had crashed. Same as trying to open it manually. It's immediate.

Do you mean you can bring up your addons with Ctrl+Shift+A once you are in safemode? Because I can't get into safemode and doing it without being in Firefox produced no response at all.

What do you mean by the sentence, "I tend to think AVG Safe or McAfee Site Advisor"? I don't have AVG or McAfee.
