That is probably caused by Firefox using hardware acceleration on switching the display driver to another mode. If that screen buffer isn't empty then you may see the data that is in that buffer before the screen gets cleared. *Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available" If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
