It is SO frustrating! I have two major problems with this new update. I cannot get it to stay British and I have lost the ability to have Greasemonkey on the toolbar!!!

1. I deleted US language and just kept GB. Rebooted FF and I was US eng again. So moved GB up top. Stayed speaking US. Rebooted FF and US was up top again. It matter not whether I delete US, move US or anything with US it will NOT stay there and I cannot therefore use GB eng!!

2, I have Greasemonkey up top. Upgraded FF and its vanished! Greasemonkey is still running okay but will not go in the toolbar. Try and customise the toolbar and the Greasemonkey icon is not there!

Really annoying and I have been using another browser for the first time in over 10 years. (sometime like that anyway!)

Ok this is weird. I deleted the prefs.js as told to (no user file) and its saving everything else it should but it refuses point blank to let me be British! It even says in my language section that I have no US file there any longer only GB but it keeps telling me that my words are spelled wrong in UK Eng mode.

Could the actual language file itself be wrong?

Do you have a dictionary installed and selected?

  • You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.
  • Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
  • Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.

You can enable or disable spell checking globally:

  • Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"

You can look here for dictionaries:

Yes, as I said I have GB Eng and I put it above US, then I deleted US etc etc

See attachment. It showed the GB eng showing as the only language file

If you have a problem with spell checking in GB English then you need to install and select the en-GB dictionary.
