After dropping a list of .xpi files into <install-dir>\extensions, Firefox is completely oblivious I want them installed. What are the magic words to make FF install my addons?

I want to install addons for multiple users. So I used Windows Easy Transfer to copy a fully-built profile, including all APPDATA but my extensions weren't included. I threw my collection of .xpi files into the FF extensions directory and restarted FF - nothing. Made sure my user had admin rights, restarted FF - nothing.
