You have to post the crash ID as a link, so type: about:crashes in the location bar, then right click a couple and choose "Copy Link Location". Then CTRL+V to post them here.

Have you tried running Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode? If If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Incidentally, you need to update VLC player to the latest version which is 1.1.11 @ http://www.videolan.org/ The version you're running at the moment is vulnerable to exploits.

Please also visit the Plugins Check page and update where necessary.

The link for this crashreport is https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/c9f55ede-7bc4-44c0-9ffa-69b4e2110724 . In general, the link for a crashreport is https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/XXX where XXX is the bug ID code. In this case the crash is caused by a problem in the cache for which there is no solution available yet. I would suggest to clear the cache often as a workaround.

It seems there's a patch in the pipeline, but it's still in the throes of being tested. See: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=529733 (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

I cleared the cache and for about a week I had no crashes. Then yesterday, it started the same thing again saying "Firefiox had to close...etc". I emptied the cache agai and it promptly crashed a couple of minuteas later. Any ideas?.

Which security software (firewall) do you have?

Do you have security or cleanup software that can corrupt the browser cache files?

You can find the location of the disk on the about:cache page (open that page via the location bar like a website).

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.
