I used to have http://www.ixquick.com/ as my standard start-up "homepage". Tonight I downloaded something that got through my lock-out search changers. I need to find the procedure to lock Ixquick back in because they DON'T SAVE ANY INFO ON USERS OR REPORT OR SELL INFORMATION TO OTHER INTERNET SOURCES. Thank you.. ...George...

Please do the following.

  • In the location bar, type about:config and hit Enter.

  • In the filter at the top, type: keyword.URL

  • Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.ixquick.com/search?q=

The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.

To reset your home page, do the following.

  • Go to http://www.ixquick.com/

  • Click the orange Firefox button and go to Options | Options | General.

  • Make sure it says "Show My Homepage" in the first dropdown menu.

  • Click the button called "Use Current Pages" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.

THAT's the method I used before (the one I couldn't remember). Sony VAIO got back to me [or maybe it was Mozilla or Firefox] and told me to enter the search site I wanted { http://www.ixquick.com/ }; then place my cursor/pointer on their symbol at the left end of the URL address bar. Left click & hold mouse key, drag the symbol to the "homepage" 'house' and release the left click button.

You might try this yourself and suggest it to other users. It's much faster and

EASIER to do, and to remember.

Thank you for your timely response and your useful info.

<sincerely> George
