The colour of the sites I visit does not change in the list of sites.

I am not able to find this feature in Firefix 4, though it was there in earlier versions.

Chosen solution

Make sure that you not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

Thanks. Your suggestion worked.

I had to adjust (tweak -as you might be used to this word) the settings 2-3 times but the basic thing was 'Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode". '

I did not know that 'private browsing' would have such consequences.

You're welcome

In private browsing mode you disable storing data and that includes disabling the history and that causes the visited status not to show up. Cookies work normally in PB mode with the exception that all cookies are removed if you you close Firefox or leave PB mode otherwise.
