The back/forward button no longer has a drop-down list of previous pages visited in that tab: or is this accessible some other way?

The question says it all, really. I just installed Firefox 4, and noticed a significant (for me) reduction in utility: in the previous version, the back button used to have a drop-down arrow which showed the previous pages visited in a particlular tab, and allowed you to go back several pages in one go, if you wanted to (say, when browsing a series of sites to buy something or other). Firefox 4 no longer has this facility, which I personally found very useful from time to time.

Is it available by some other means? If not, maybe I should consider reverting to the previous version, which suited me better, in this regard at least.

Chosen solution

There are two options to acess the history: (1) Click and hold the back button, (2) Right click the back button.

Excellent, thank you.

Just put the little arrow back into the system. Fix this now. I don't want 2 other options. Get this right for "nontech" people.

Does not work for me. The 2 buttons (arrows) always have the same shape, like on this picture.

Being an Amazon seller I find the back button to be invaluable when processing orders. Please put it back!

thanks for the info, right click works just dandy. However...dude...that is so not intuitive. I had to come to this page to learn how to browse back 2 pages? c'mon...

I gotta agree with that. It wasn't broke, why "fix" it? All right, there's an answer, but it worked already as it was.

If you really, really want the dropmarker next to the buttons, there is an addon for that here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/

The dropmarker is there (see picture), but does not work (no dropdown list). The back/forward buttons never work for me. Really annoying !!!

I have been using Mozilla Firefox since version 1.0, but the version 4 does not work for me. The one page forward and one page back buttons are not highlighted and don't work. I can't seem to find a fix for this and when I try to re-install version 3 it gives me a file corrupted message. Can anyone tell me how to get 4 working or if not how to get a working version of 3?

Thanks, dude. Back to the future!

Agreed. A new version should NOT require this much effort and TIME. The basic interface is now so much smaller, relying on icon functionality to replace easy-to-find ways to task is counterproductive in all ways. ex: after posting this reply, I don't find an easy way to return to the forum without clicking on the back button twice. There had BETTER be fixes to productivity issues SOON. I also seem to have to reinstall the latest Flashplayer version with each internet media site I try to use, i.e. Comedy Central with the Daily Show and Colbert Nation. Thought I'd add that as I'm tired of scrolling through this forum.

This works, but... why solving a problem with a single click if it is possible with a long one? Translated: why to have it simple, when it is possible to be complicated?

Is it possible that Firefox 4 is now Micro$oft Firefox 4? Install an add-on to restore the back/forward buttons we are all so used to??? Hmm.... I remember you had to buy a program to restore the interface of M$Office 2007 so you could use it like Office 2003 just to get some work done.

This is just another box-headed decision, like defaulting the Tabs bar to the top so you have to climb over the other tool bars to switch tabs. Great move there guys! Have you considered defaulting the search and address bars to "hidden"? Now there's great idea that you missed!

YES!!! Put it back, put it ALL back like it was!!! Don't waste your time finding solutions to non-existent problems and we won't have to waste our time searching Google for silly add-ons and tips for how to use the new "improved" Micro$oft Firefox 4.

If we must learn to use a new browser, maybe it's time to learn a NEW browser. I think I'll go on a SAFARI from here.

I agree, though I'm sure that I will get used to the "new way " over time. And I almost forgot about have to move the tabs back down where they belong.

They should know that every time they change the design, it tells us their previous design sucked and they didn't think it through.

I finally found the solution for my problem. Loading page : "about:config", i realized that the property "'browser.sessionhistory.max_entries" was "0" (zero). I changed it to 20 and now it works well.
