Profiles managing. What is shared in different profiles?

It's a long story! I first had a problem with the Google Toolbar features.

  • Inactive Buttons.
  • No updates
  • Words translation over the cursor missing

I found another downloading location for this google toolbar, installed, restart... Version 7.1.20100830M No change Then I've created another profile with this terminal command Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -ProfileManager And now, I've two similar profiles with the same problems. I guess some plugins could affect the google toolbar. But which ones? (Betterprivacy?) I'm not clever with thoose plugins. But I sometimes like their features. So what are (if any) the datas shared between profiles? You probably notice I'm not an English speaker. Sorry for that.

The Google Toolbar extension has been very problematic in recent versions of Firefox. It is causing all sorts of problems for many users, with functions disappearing or functions not working properly. You could try un-installing it and then re-installing it; other users have reported success with doing that and no loss of data (un-installing that toolbar extension doesn't remove the user data that was saved).

I wouldn't trust that extension until it is updated beyond - Version 7.1.20100830M - the last part of that version number is the date - Aug 30, 2010.

Data isn't shared between Profiles, it is unique to the individual Profile - with one exception that I am aware of, the Clippings extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1347/ . Shared data is a specific feature in Clippings, so the same data is available in both Firefox and Thnderbird, and of course other Firefox Profiles; but there's a switch to limit the data to one Profile, which is the norm for extensions and separate Profiles.
