enable/disable JS, pictures, or add/r search engine, without addons/about:config
hello
since few years im a bit surprised by the fact, that on firefox, it's harder and harder to do the following customisation : -enable or disable javascript -enable or disable pictures of webpages
the thing is, years ago it was just a one-click setting to change, and now it's looks like to be needed either to go on nerdly-menu (about:config, and know by heart the right one), or to use an addon (that i dont want)
do you know if there is a possibility, for an offline computer (mean bye addons), without going to about:config, to enable/disable both Javascript feature, and picture of webpages?
it's the same for customised search engine : years ago it was faisable with just entering the address of a new one into the common settings, now it's looks like an addon is required.... why?!
years ago no addon nor connection was needed to :
-en/disable JS
-en/disable images/pictures on webpages
-add/remove search engine
..why?

Disabling javascript and images are nerdy things since they will break most modern sites. What constitutes an "image" is increasingly difficult to define with the growing complexity of web standards.
You can download and install extensions offline like uBlock Origin which allows toggling javascript and large images.
Search engines can be added in the following ways without extensions: 1. Directly on sites that support OpenSearch. 2. mycroftproject website. 3. Bookmark keywords. 4. In the Search settings (requires going to about:config and creating browser.urlbar.update2.engineAliasRefresh (Boolean) with value true).

hello both, thank you for your answer i think i will have to enjoy with about:config, but that's sad to do a such constatation about the ff browser, regarding years ago; as a friend told me :
C'est une tendance générale sur Firefox, les premières versions avaient une tonne d'option, comme désactiver le JavaScript. Il faut croire que les décideurs estiment que l'utilisateur est con, et que lui enlever ces options "dangereuses" est pour son bien.
it's a general trend, regarding FF, first versions had tons of options, like disable JS. it appears that deciders or mozila executives think they're right to estimate the end-user is a dumb, and remove those options is a way to avoid "dangerous" behaviour of FF for his own good

While it may not be a popular answer here, there are Firefox-spinoff browsers like Waterfox (https://www.waterfox.net) that do offer an easy toggle for images and JavaScript, and without Addons. See the image below. With the previous caveats that the definition of "image" is less clear than it used to be, and a number of sites do fail without JavaScript.
