I got a new computer recently and downloaded firefox. I'm the kind of person that has hundreds of tabs open, so my tabs are always full. I noticed that whenever I'm on a site, and I click a bunch of links (for example when you google stuff and you open a few results at once), the tab bar doesn't move. Previously if the number of tabs I open exceed the existing ones on screen, it will just push them to the right, out of sight. Only the newly open tabs will be visible. If I open enough to cover the whole bar, the ones on the left will just get covered while new ones on the right will be visible. The new pc is just, it doesn't move. If I'm on the tab on the furthest right and I open a link in a new tab, the arrow button just flashes blue for a second but it doesn't SHOW me the tab, granting me access. I'd have to scroll the tab bar to find it. I'm not talking about switching to the newly opened tab. Sorry if my explanation is bad but is there any way to make it like the way it was before?

Hey there! It sounds like you're experiencing a change in how new tabs are opening in Firefox on your new computer. No worries, we can definitely help you get it back to the way you like it. To make tabs behave the way you described, follow these steps:

Open a new tab. Type "about:config" (without the quotes) into the address bar and press Enter. Accept the warning about changing advanced settings. In the search bar at the top, type "browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent". Double-click on the "browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent" preference to change its value to "false".

This should make new tabs open to the right of the current tab, just like you're used to. Give it a try, and your tab bar should behave as you described. If you need any more help, just let us know!

Hmm, I haven't noticed a change, but I also haven't set up Firefox with fresh settings recently.

Do you use any tab-related add-ons that might be a factor?

I can't reproduce what you are describing. When I open a lot of links in tabs, the active tab gets pushed to the left as new tabs appear on the right. Only when the active tab hits the left-most edge do tabs start overflowing and opening off-screen, causing the right arrow button to flash.

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

Actually nevermind, it irked me so much I couldn't stand it then suddenly the idea of reinstalling firefox (refresh actually, the first time I saw that option while trying to uninstall it) crossed my mind. Surprisingly it worked and it's fine now.
