If you're not receiving Gmail notifications in Firefox on your new laptop, even though notifications are enabled and working on other browsers, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Firefox's notification settings: Open Firefox and click on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner to access the menu. Select "Options" and click on "Privacy & Security" on the left-hand side. Scroll down to the "Permissions" section and click on "Settings" next to "Notifications". Check if "mail.google.com" is listed and set to "Allow". If it's not listed, try adding it manually and see if that resolves the issue.

Make sure Firefox is up to date: Outdated versions of Firefox can cause issues with notifications. Make sure you're using the latest version of Firefox by clicking on the menu icon and selecting "Help" > "About Firefox". If an update is available, follow the instructions to install it.

Check if Firefox is running in the background: If Firefox is running in the background or minimized, it may not show notifications. Make sure Firefox is running in the foreground and try again.

Disable any ad-blockers or extensions: Certain ad-blockers and extensions can interfere with notifications. Try disabling any extensions or ad-blockers you have installed and see if that resolves the issue.

Try resetting Firefox: If none of the above steps work, you may want to try resetting Firefox to its default settings. This will delete your bookmarks, saved passwords, and other data, so make sure to back up any important information before proceeding. To reset Firefox, click on the menu icon and select "Help" > "Troubleshooting Information". Click on "Refresh Firefox" and follow the instructions to reset Firefox to its default settings.

If none of these steps work, you may want to try using Gmail in a different browser or contacting Firefox support for further assistance.

Hi!

Thanks for the help - some of them didn't work, one I couldn't finish.

"Check if "mail.google.com" is listed and set to "Allow". If it's not listed, try adding it manually and see if that resolves the issue." - but how do I add it manually? There is no manual button or notifcations add on the gmail webpage.

Thanks agian,

Paul.

I have to allow notifications on the gmail settings page and gmail has to be open in the browser for me to receive notifications.

That would be annoying... the whole point is to get notifications regardless. If tt needs to be open, I might as well just stare at the screen and wait!

Thanks anyway, Terry - appreciated.
