This green cursor does nothing, it just blinks, it's always there. I researched it, but while there were references to it, most replies misunderstood the issue. The cursor just sits there and blinks in the upper left. I only have a few add-ons, and all are recommended by Mozilla, no issues with them. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Thanks.

I can't see the cursor clearly. You may have activated caret browsing although I would expect the cursor then to appear on other webpages as well. F7 toggles caret browsing off and on. Otherwise, have you enabled any "Google apps"?

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
