Hello,

So I have noticed that it is now somewhat common, after I upgrade to a newer version of FF, that I often "Lose" one or more Pinned Websites. This didn't use to happen and the reason I have pinned every one of the websites on the four rows of possible websites is that I want to be able to go back to that website and it's quicker to go from "here" vs. from a bookmark. Another thing that now happens: I was on a new website yesterday and today FF had replaced one of my favorite pinned websites.

I have to ask: What is the point of having the ability to Pin a website IF FF is then going to "arbitrarily" remove my pinned website and Replace it with some website I did Not choose to pin?! I thought that was the point: that I could Pin a website and have access to it and it would Stay there. (Okay, as much as anything can "stay" there in a world in flux) The bummer is, I have Lost some significant websites that I can't even find again Because I had relied on them being Pinned and did not make a bookmark Because it was already Pinned. Do you follow me?

The way I see it is that IF I Pin a website, it should Stay Pinned and Not be able to just be replaced, Especially if I Don't either dismiss it from the library Or delete it from the library. But this has been happening more and more often and it seems arbitrary and unfair. I don't want FF to Add a website to my 4 rows of pinned websites by taking away a website I had previously pinned. Again, what's the point of pinning it in the first place then?

Thank you for your time.

John D

I assume you mean pages you have pinned to a tile on the Firefox Home page since you write about rows and not tabs you have pinned to the left end of the Tab bar ?

Changes made manually on the Firefox Home page are stored in prefs that you can find on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.pinned => websites pinned to a tile
  • browser.newtabpage.blocked => websites removed by clicking Dismiss in a tile

You can possibly backup the browser.newtabpage.pinned pref to be able to restore pinned tabs.
