When I click on a link, a whole new copy of the browser seems to open from the right side of the screen. This is disconcerting to say the least. More importantly I find it hard to go back and forth between windows to get something done.

This just started when I downloaded/installed a recent new version of Firefox. (Version 104.0.1)

How do I get rid of this "feature"? I mush prefer opening screens in the same browser copy.

I found the profiles page (it seems). However, it is a whole list of folders and some independent URLs (not in sub-folders that is). I don't have a clue what to open or delete.

Further, you mention re-installing. Do you mean Firefox? How will that get rid of a screwed up profile or does a re-install start the profile scheme from scratch?

Finally is there any newer version than 104.0.1?

Thanks for your patience.
