For some reason I'm no longer able to open a new browser window either by right-clicking the dock icon or under the File menu. The only option available is to open a new private window. I can, however, move a tab to a new window.

Is there any was we can add back the functionality to just open a new "normal/unprivate" window?

It is quite likely that you currently run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History). In that case you can only open a PB mode window and not a regular window.

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
