help with opening a new window

Prior to installing the most recent update (today), when I clicked on "file" at the top of my screen, I was given the option to open a new window (or private window). I can no longer do that. Instead, I have to open a new tap within the window I have open (generally, my email). How can I restore this? Thank you.

Hi, on MacOS, the menu bar is generally under the control of the system. This article has some things to check when the bar is missing: Restore the Menu bar in Firefox. (If necessary, use the "Customize this article" section of the right column to select "Mac" as your OS.)

If the menus are present but the contents have changed, hmm, I'm not sure why that would happen. Could you share a screenshot showing what you see? This article has tips on how to capture that: How do I create a screenshot of my problem? Please cut out or blur any sensitive information in the image before attaching it to your reply.

Also, you could open a new window or new private window using one of these methods:

  • main menu button at the right end of the main toolbar
  • Command+N for new window, and Command+Shift+P for new private window
