This has happened to me a number of times now. I think I am deleting the last entry in today's history but instead, I accidentally delete the whole today folder in history. Last night, I did a lot of research and was counting on reviewing some of the pages in the today history (after midnight). Now, I will never be able to even know where to start. How hard would it be for Firefox to add a step requiring the user to answer Y/N to are you sure you want to delete all of today's history? Also, after all these years, one would think it would be easy to restore accidentally erased history, but after looking for hours, I can't find a viable solution at all. If only I could import the SQLite file into Excel, Word or some common program. I'm not a power user by any means, I just want my history back.

How are you deleting the history ? Is that in the sidebar (Ctrl+H) with showing the history by Date and Site as that can easily cause the focus getting set to a main history folder ?

Maybe use the Library (History Manager; Ctrl+Shift+H) instead as that allows to select a specific date range in the left panel.

I click on History in the menu on the top left. I choose today and the entry I wanted to delete was highlighted. I hit delete and there went the entire today folder. I spent around 5 hours researching some products I want to buy as well as having visited other pages I wanted to revisit. A simple "Are you sure you want to delete all of today's history" would have prevented it from happening. I spent several more hours trying to find how to correct the mistake to no avail. This has happened to me before and I think it is an issue Mozilla needs to deal with. The Library takes me to the same place I made the fatal mistake. I don't know why my own history has to be so darn protected from myself by Firefox... There should be now way this can happen. Firefox even asks if I'm sure I want to close multiple browsing pages at once and I can recover that from history (generally). Something you can't recover from, they continue to let go.

And just how hard would it be for Mozilla to put in a prompt "Do you wish to delete all of today's (or other periods) history?
