Maximum number of synced tabs?

Is there a maximum number of tabs that can be synced? I have about 800 tabs on my old computer, but when I look at the synced tabs in the sidebar on the new computer, only about half of them are listed. The oldest 400 or so are missing.

And yes, I realize 800 tabs is insane. But that's another discussion. :)

I think that there is a maximum to the payload (URL and title) used for syncing tabs and only the newest tabs might get synced if you have a lot like in your case. I'm not sure what its maximum is for tabs (? 512*1024 bytes), but if there are a lot of tabs with a long URL or title then this will have have more impact. The same can happen with a large amount of bookmarks.

This looks like relevant to me in the source code:

createRecord

getMaxRecordPayloadSize and getMemcacheMaxRecordPayloadSize

tryFitItems

  • 1403052 - tabs collection may exceed memcached server limits
