The browser is super slow today. I have updated and restarted multiple times.

I don't like refreshing because I have a lot of add ons.

Anyone else? My internet speeds are max.

Thanks

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Did you try to reboot the computer ?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.

Thanks Fred. That did solve the problem. But when I go back it's the same.

Thanks Cor-el. I have done many times. I feel like it was part of a new windows update today and it has ironed itself out in the past.

I am working today from home of course so it's especially noticeable. Truthfully I have had anything like this in eons. So that's why I asked. I even redownloaded Friefox and that didn't work either.

I guess I could refresh but then I have to reinstall everything. Sigh.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Cor-el.

I ended up refreshing this morning. It wasn't stopping. I looked everywhere. Like I said I haven't had that for a long long time. But I did a little hand cranked windows update yesterday.

Now we are back to fasty fast. Thanks both of you for the help. I appreciate it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

All my firefox friends are now experiencing this issue. There is definitely something wrong. I am having this issue again today. My friend in Berlin is going through the same thing.

I think the Firefox gods must be notified! AEHAEHAEHAHE

There is a bug in the kingdom.

Did toy try a new clean profile without making changes as a refresh can possibly transfer issues ?

Is this only with loading pages or also when you navigate the Firefox user interface ?

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
