Been using thunderbird for at least 10 years with no problems and I love it. I probably had 7 accounts set up in there with all my folders, templates etc.

Today, I woke up and opened thunderbird. It looks upgraded and ALL my accounts and settings are gone. It's asking me to setup an email account. This is a monumental disaster and impacting my business and productivity.

Anway to recover everything?

Please help...

@sfhowes this seems pretty complicated and I'm not super tech savvy. Could you please help elaborate?

I found the profiles folder and all the data is still there thankfully. I tried moving it into a new folder, but then thunderbird wouldnt open at all so I couldnt make any changes to profile manager.

So I made a copy of it to a new folder and put original back and opened thunderbird.

I made a new profile in profile manager, selected folder and re-opened thunderbird. No changes.

I checked address book, and addresses are still in there but I don't see any of my accounts, mail or folders elsewhere.

So I tried to use the TOOLS > IMPORT functions, but I get a pop up that says NO application to import data from to be found.

Any other suggestions? This is pretty complicated for me...

Did you try the method of looking for an older prefs.js file? There shouldn't be any need to use profile manager unless the suggested method fails. If you end up creating a new profile, add your accounts, and transfer the local mail, address books etc. from the old profile to the new one. There are are several topics in this forum that describe the process in detail.
