Are you getting one of the main error pages described in the following article, or are the symptoms different?

Secure connection failed and Firefox did not connect

If the symptoms are different, what are you seeing or not seeing?

If a site is generally known to work in Firefox, these are standard suggestions to try when it stops working normally:

Double-check content blockers: Firefox's Tracking Protection feature, and extensions that counter ads and tracking, may break websites that embed third party content (meaning, from a secondary server).

(A) The shield icon toward the left end of the address bar usually turns a bit purplish when content is blocked. Click the icon to learn more or make an exception. See: Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox for desktop.

(B) Extensions such as Adblock Plus, Blur, Disconnect, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, Ghostery, NoScript, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin or uMatrix usually provide a toolbar button to manage blocked content in a page. There may or may not be a number on the icon indicating the number of blocked items; you sometimes need to click the button to see what's going on and test whether you need to make an exception for this site.

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, click the lock icon at the left end of the address bar. After a moment, a "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button should appear at the bottom. Go ahead and click that.

In the dialog that opens, you will see one or more matches to the current address so you can remove the site's cookies individually without affecting other sites.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Testing in Firefox's Safe Mode: In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.) A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

No, it did not resolve the problem. Part/most of my frustration is the aspect that I have no clue as to how to unblock this site. I am not given the choice to go there anywhere. every time I tried to 'uncheck' all the boxes, it would reset. Talk about frustrating. I also acknowledge that there could be a link problem from the email. I was able to go to the website directly and watch the video. I have cleared the cache. I have tried the Safe Mode as well with no change what so ever. My computer has also been rebooted from the first try yesterday. http://email.formed.org/e/c/eyJlbWFpbF9pZCI6ImRnUFBuQVhQbkFVREFBRjM2QlhqVjZJZ1lfeEw0LTlfZEdJPSIsImhyZWYiOiJodHRwczovL3dhdGNoLmZvcm1lZC5vcmcvdmlkZW9zL2xlbnRlbi1kYWlseS1yZWZsZWN0aW9ucy1mZWJydWFyeS0yOC0yMDIxIiwibGlua19pZCI6MTc1ODMsInBvc2l0aW9uIjoyfQ/1f4c598fb87bf88cb10a7f7c84bef31a005fb7faeec4bd0a956c97d92f7ce991

Hmm, doesn't look blocked, but the redirect did not occur. Please make sure the redirect block is turned off:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste access and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the accessibility.blockautorefresh preference has a value of true, double-click it to restore the default value of false

I'm being forwarded to this https URL if I open the link you posted in the above reply:

So make sure you do not block this redirect.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

for jscher2000: from access... it is not blocked! (it is and was false) for cor-el: I believe that I have done everything that you described as I believe it is the same as jscher2000 directed. Yes, the cache has been cleared. Yes, that is the content I am trying to watch. Yes, if I go directly to the website, I can access the video. However, the link is not getting me there because it is being blocked. Even when I click on the link in my earlier response (that opened for you), mine is still blocked. Didn't work on chrome either. Turning off my Surfshark vpn doesn't get me anywhere but a different screen with: Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at email.formed.org.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I am connected. The site isn't busy. The fact that you see my response shows that Firefox has access to the web. Hence my frustration. I can't get a printscreen of the first click on the padlock but I get a statement that I have not granted this website any special permissions but that isn't an active link to get there. So I guess my redirected question: How do I grant that particular website permission?

guess what! I now have access and it occurred just after I sent my last post. I had earlier sent an email to Formed.org about the issue. Perhaps it was something on their end?????? I thank you for your time just the same. I would still like to learn how to add a site to the unblocked sites though. any ideas?
